Takele Tantu

Living in: Awassa

Marital status: Married (to Meaza Manjura)

Children: Betelehem (4), Jerusalem (8 months)

Adopted children: Mekebeb Manegesha (14)

Salvation experience: Takele comes from an Orthodox family.  He himself was devoutly Orthodox for much of his life, even serving as a deacon in the church.  His heart wanted Truth, and this led him to ask questions of the leadership of his church about baptism and fasting.  Instead of answering these questions, the church leaders "chased him" out of the church.  He started reading God's Word to find answers to his questions, and eventually received Christ at the age of 28.

Life and ministry experience / Present ministry: He prayed to join the ministry of Great Commission Ethiopia Ministries (GCEM), and eventually joined them 12 years ago as a guard.  Now he is a driver for the management team, as well as the team prayer coordinator.  He is also a chairperson in his local church.

Vision for the future: Desires to fulfill the Great Commission by consistently organizing prayer groups until all the unreached people groups are covered by the Gospel. Also wants to continue serving the Lord in his church.

Prayer requests:

  • That God would provide funds for rent and for his children's school fees
  • That God would provide opportunity for his wife to go back to school
  • That God would provide more leadership for the church Takele planted 3 years ago
